seeing other people's reactions when I tell them I have cancer.

I had spots that looked like bruises on my skin and my left sinus was completely clogged. I had none of the traditional symptoms of leukemia.

I have 6 months of chemo:
1. Daunorubicin, Vincristine, Asparaginase, Prednisone
2. Cytarabine, Etoposide
3. Methotrexate
months 4, 5, and 6 are a repeat of months 1, 2, and 3. I also had 6 doses of intrathecal methotrexate (chemo injected into my spine).

Cruisin' the Cancer WingViews: 2509

Greetings from 4th floor west, Sutter General! I am back in the hospital for a short stay (hopefully) to do the last part of the induction phase of my chemotherapy. Basically, I am just kickin’ it here, waiting to get my daily shot in the belly of L-Asparaginase around 8pm nightly. The rest of the time I just hang out, get my blood pressure taken, temperature taken, pulse taken, go pee (about 80 times a day since they have me on IV fluids), wait for breakfast, lunch, and dinner which come about 2 hours before I’m hungry for them, and go cruisin’ around the cancer wing with my IV stand in tow.
My nurse’s goals for me:
1. tolerate chemo
2. walk 3 times per day in the hallway
3. home soon!

My goals:
1. grow hair
2. get a hot boyfriend
3. go to Paris

So I went for a couple of walks today around the 4th floor with mom accomplishing one of my nurse’s goals and working on one of mine (there MIGHT be hot men in the hospital, you never know). I am in better shape than most people on the floor. It’s sad to look in the other rooms ‘cuz people look pretty sick. I am thankful that I am feeling good. I also did some knitting today. Thanks to mom for teaching me how, although it was pretty comical trying to get started with the numbness in the tips of my fingers. The dexterity just aint what it used to be! That is about it for action, folks. Not a whole lot happens here. I have not really had any bad side effects from the chemo yet. I had a headache this morning but a tylenol took care of that and I have been feeling good ever since.
So all of you that are out for Friday night happy hour, raise a glass for me! I may be feeling better than you are tomorrow and I’ll be having breakfast in bed. Jealous?
Peace, love, and happy weekend!
Josi

I am sending a Great Big Hug..

You look wonderful! The prettiest sick person I’ve ever seen. Keep smiling. Keep the faith.

Hey Josi,
So, I take it the picture I sent you of your potential boyfriend didn’t work out? I can only assume this since you are out searching the halls. :) And you look fabulous baby!
Keep up the posts and smiles.
Love ya!

You are in my prayers girl! Kick some chemo ass! I love you sweetie and if you need anything, let me know…not food, because you know that is why we depend on Jamie :)

I’m glad you posted some pics! It’s really nice to see your lovely face. I must say, you look pretty hot. Jo and I have awesome things for you that will be in the mail soon! Gimmie a call if you get bored :)

I dig the stripes, and the new ‘do. Very summertime fresh. Well, after a ridiculous nacho cheese pump party, I have officially lost my voice. My voice left home circa 11 pm Saturday night and has not returned yet.. I sound very squeaky which is why I am trying to avoid the phone because people have been scared, very scared, to hear from me so far.
We had a t shirt mishap.. I am working on it…
love

Youre an inspiration!

Okay, did those blokes at the Sac DA do this to you? I am going to kick some prosecutor butt for you – just give me the names. My heart is with you and keep up all that great ‘tude.

Gretchen! OMG! How did you ever know? My grapevine is getting longer and longer, this is a blessing. I miss you guys down there. Sac DA has been really good to me, great people have really taken me in, as you can probably see from some of these comments. Please give my best and say hi to all in sex crimes, especially Dwayne. Soooo great to hear from you!

I’m in my office, yes it’s past 8 at night, but I was thinking of you and wanted to remind you that you are amazing and that I love you and have a big fat hug waiting for you :)
