seeing other people's reactions when I tell them I have cancer.

I had spots that looked like bruises on my skin and my left sinus was completely clogged. I had none of the traditional symptoms of leukemia.

I have 6 months of chemo:
1. Daunorubicin, Vincristine, Asparaginase, Prednisone
2. Cytarabine, Etoposide
3. Methotrexate
months 4, 5, and 6 are a repeat of months 1, 2, and 3. I also had 6 doses of intrathecal methotrexate (chemo injected into my spine).

Mom's pork chopsViews: 1812

I’m home! The doctor gave the thumbs up for me to go home after 5 days in the hospital. I have to say the best thing is being able to eat a home-cooked meal. Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed sans the 4am wakeup call to take more tests, too. I finished the first round of chemo and am scheduled to do outpatient treatments for the next 3 tuesdays. I will have to be re-admitted again on July 12th for 12 days of an enzyme treatment, but my admission should only last about 3-4 days.
I have lots of family rotating through my care schedule as well. My brother and sister-in-law will be here from monday to wednesday, and my dad and step-mom will be here the rest of the week through the weekend. Mom heads back to wisconsin on wednesday but will be back the following week, hopefully with good progress on finding an apartment.
The bizarre thing about this week was that I felt great when I checked into the hospital on monday and i feel like shit today when they’re letting me out. Go figure. I kind of feel like I have a hangover that won’t go away. So I have been sleeping most of the day and trying to keep up with the calls and emails. I know there are many of you that I have not gotten back to yet, and I’m so sorry. All of your messages are so appreciated and I really want to give you all responses. I hope you can be patient! :)
Much love and health to you all
Josi
