seeing other people's reactions when I tell them I have cancer.

I had spots that looked like bruises on my skin and my left sinus was completely clogged. I had none of the traditional symptoms of leukemia.

I have 6 months of chemo:
1. Daunorubicin, Vincristine, Asparaginase, Prednisone
2. Cytarabine, Etoposide
3. Methotrexate
months 4, 5, and 6 are a repeat of months 1, 2, and 3. I also had 6 doses of intrathecal methotrexate (chemo injected into my spine).

"You have ALL"Views: 1699

As many of you already know, I have recently been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). This is a type of blood cancer that attacks cells in the blood and bone marrow. I am being admitted to the hospital on Monday to start chemotherapy. I’ll be in the hospital for about 2 weeks, home for 2 weeks, then back to the hospital for 4-5 days, then home again, etc. This is supposed to go on for about 6 months, with about 2 1/2 years of maintenance after that.
Jo was here with me for my first appointment with the Oncologist, and frankly it was the first step in saving my life. My mom is here with me now, and many of my family members will be rotating thru Sac to take care of me in the coming months. Thanks to those of you who have sent texts and voicemails in the past few days wishing me well.
I started this blog to keep all of you up to date on my status, to share information about my disease, to vent, to laugh, to cry, to stay in touch with the rest of the world. Please send me comments, share stories, advice, recipes, meditations, prayers, etc. Please also support each other, not just me.
I am still smiling! :)
All my love
Josi

Hi Josi and Fellow Josi Supporters,

If anyone has this information handy, can someone please post the name of the hospital where Josi will be kicking cancer’s butt? Thanks!

Love, Lauren and Josh

hey lauren and Josh
I think she will be at sutter general in Sacramento. Talked to her today, she was heading out for steak. She may not have email for next couple of days, until the internet situation in her room is figured out.

Hi Josi,
I was just reading youor blog, which I don’[t normally do, I sort of think that it was fate that I found you. I was dx. with CML more than 13 years ago, though I realize it is much different than ALL, my prognosis was not good at all, which was totally unacceptable to me for I ama divorced MOM of 3 great kids which at the time of my diagnosis they were only 8, 10 & 15 years old. I was heartbroken. But, after I got over my pity party I began to fight and fighting is something I am still doing today. What they don’t seem to get unlike just going by statistics is that each one of us is individuals and have strong spirits and are not willing to give up. If you ever wish to wite me, I would love to correspond with you. I promise you that you will always be in my thoughts & prayers as we both get through this fight. By, the way, my kids are now 21, 23 & 28. How’s that for numbers? Bhappy4ever6@aol.com
ibpatti32…....Hugs & Prayers to you, Patty
